EXECUTIVE SUMMARY I am a dynamic professional with over 25 years of experience in leading cross-functional teams of highly skilled professionals in multinational environments. I have led Training & Development, Business Transformation & Operational Excellence functions at regional & global levels in Fortune 500 companies. I have worked in leadership positions in several global companies and have traveled & worked across Asia, the Middle East, Europe & USA. As the 1st Global Head of Process Lifecycle Management and Operational Excellence at Novartis Business Services, I set up the function, team & operating model. I led a global team delivering business architecture governance, standardization & optimization of global processes, continuous improvement, process mining, predictive analytics, and providing of the frameworks, standards and systems for enterprise-wide Process Management. I led the design & implementation of the system for end-to-end ownership & management of all services & processes, their KPIs, customer experience, and productivity. I led the Service & Process Excellence COE, which is the internal consulting service & team for Novartis, providing thought leadership & execution of Service & Process Excellence across Novartis. As the Global Head of Operational Excellence in Syngenta Business Services, I led the design & implementation of the function’s operating model and led the function with P&L responsibility. Led the program that delivered financial benefits through improvement projects and organizational culture change through capability building and leadership support. I worked closely with leadership teams to identify key business levers and improvement opportunities. As Lean Master, led Philips’ Lean deployment at ASEAN Pacific level across three businesses (Health Tech, Lighting, Electronics) to bring enterprise-wide transformation. Led the high visibility LEAN deployment program spanning across sales, marketing, functions, service and supply chain organizations for all 3 businesses. As the Regional Continuous Improvement Lead, I started & led the CI program for Shell Petroleum’s Retail business for the East, comprising of 11 countries from the Middle East to Asia-Pacific. Trained over 100 Black/ Green Belts and led the successful process re-engineering of major end-to-end processes across East, leading to over US$ 9 Million in hard financial benefit. Founder & CEO a start-up company, eUniversity, providing cloud-based training & consulting solutions & content for mid-sized businesses. Led the entire journey hands-on – business planning, creating business & operating model, product and technology design & development, content design & development, hiring & people management, business development. As Master Black Belt based in Singapore, I led the Lean Six Sigma deployment for BP (British Petroleum) in Asia Pacific. Deployment areas included – Exploration and Production, Fuels Value Chain, Lubricants and centralized functions like Procurement, Human Resource, Finance, and IT. Implemented & led Production Efficiency Program at key production sites. I was one of the first Certified Black Belt in Starwood (Marriott) Hotels and became the first internally grown Area Director of Six Sigma, leading Operational Excellence in South East Asia. I supported the regional leadership teams in identifying & executing breakthrough performance. As a Regional Training Manager, with the Taj Group of Hotels, I led the Training & Development function for Sri Lanka & Maldives, which included 6 hotels. Earlier I was Training Manager at Taj President Mumbai, where apart from the hotel’s training, I also led the parts of the group Management Training Program and the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award program. I start with great instructional design by first analyzing who the learners are, setting learning objectives and designing the course content using Blooms Taxonomy - taking learners from the low levels of learning (Remember, Understand) to higher levels of learning ( Apply, Analyse) and to the highest levels where needed (Evaluate, Create). My training style is highly engaging & interactive. I try to use real-world examples, case studies, scenarios & simulations. I try to draw out learners’ previous knowledge & experience and build new knowledge/ skills over that. I have a Socratic style of coaching - my approach is to help my students solve their issues & arrive at the answers by guided questioning & leading rather than giving them instructions & answers that do not force them to think & explore.
